Generally speaking I assign ship dates within a few weeks of your order being placed, unless you are ordering from the "Available Now" section of my website. Those will ship on the listed date unless we have discussed alternate arrangements.   Once I have assigned a ship date to your order, you will be contacted for confirmation that this date will work for you.  Then 1-2 weeks prior to your order being shipped, you will be contacted via email again with any updates and or questions I may have regarding delays or substitutions. At that point, you order will be planned to ship on the agreed upon date.  Please remember that these are live animals and everything doesn't always go as planned.  On shipping day, if your order ships, you will receive an email confirmation of both the fulfillment of the order and a tracking number.  These usually go our between 1-6PM PST on the actual shipping date.  Please check your junk mail and "other" folders as these emails often seem to end up there. 

Shipping rates are based on location and weight primarily.  The easiest way to get a shipping quote is to create an account or fill out your cart with your desired order.  Once you have input your shipping information, the shipping options should populate automatically and you can get a shipping quote without having to place an order. 

I have three different shipping rates based on your location.  Below is a range of the basic shipping costs.  I have not included information about juveniles or adult birds as these will be calculated on a case by case basis.

CHICKS:

Priority Express 6-20 chicks: $30-40

Priority Express 21+ chicks: $40-50

HATCHING EGGS:

Priority 1-10 eggs: $10-15

Priority 11-16 eggs: $13-20

Priority 17- 29 egg: $15-25

Priority 30-39 eggs: $20-30

Priority 40+ eggs: $30-40

Heat packs are included at the discretion of Papa's Poultry regardless of wether or not they have been ordered.  However, if you would like to ensure that your chicks are sent with a heat pack or a couple of heat packs, you are welcome to purchase them for $4 each which covers the cost of the heat pack and the additional postage due to increased weight of the box. I can include up to 4 heat packs in a chick box.  for a full layered heat floor.  I do recommend multiple heat packs whenever your temperature lows are lower than 32 degrees.  I also recommend heat packs on any order of fewer than 10 chicks. 

Unfortunately I am neither qualified or knowledgeable enough to sex the vast majority of my breeds and colors as day old chicks.  Just like you I grow them out until they are juveniles before I attempt to sex them.  So, all chicks are sold "straight run" or unknown sex unless they are otherwise labeled as a "pullet" which is a female chick or a "cockerel" which is a male chick. 

However, due to the great number of customers living within city limits where they are not allowed roosters, I am making more and more attempts to offer autosexing and sex linked chicks which are sexable at hatch.  If you only want pullets, please follow the link to my pullet only page and place your order from those options.  They are 100% guaranteed to be females or you will be refunded.

Currently, if you are receiving day old chicks, you must order and request vaccination.  If vaccinations are not ordered, your chicks will not be vaccinated.  However, if you are purchasing started chicks, then 98% of them have been vaccinated for mareks.  Once I have boxed up the orders for any given ship date, I vaccinate the chicks for customers that have requested vaccination and the chicks that remain that are not shipping that date.  So, if you are ordering 1-2 week old started chicks, they will most likely be vaccinated.  I do not go to the trouble of vaccinated late hatching chicks which explains the 98% number as there are always a couple late chicks each week that do not get vaccinated.
