Olive egger as they have been rightly named is not so much a breed more of a hybrid mixing a dark brown laying chicken with a blue/teal laying chicken. On our farm they are either a cross between Ameraucana and Marans or Cream Legbar and Marans. You can imagine with such a small requirement to be an olive egger there is an extreme variety in their looks. Although we strive to produce only olive eggers in these crosses, egg color is a very complex thing so we cannot guarantee that 100% of the offspring will lay olive eggs. However, the great majority of these will lay an olive egg.
